2020-06-00 Rocky Mountains
Prelude The beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado are a destination to come back to. I had driven there on a camping trip with my children in 2016. The geology, climate, scenery, and hiking are stellar. In 2020 I decided to return there with my children, this time on a direct flight to Denver. Car camping has become my favorite mode, it is most versatile and practical. Our accomplishments stood true to the plan, although I've learned to keep an open mind for improvisation. I consulted the Moon series guidebook. Based on its best day hikes list, I constructed an itinerary that would take us clockwise from Denver to tour and hike these areas. Then I secured reservations to most campsites in advance. Plan was for travel Thursday June 18, 2020, to Sunday Jun 28, 2020.
